The Rum Refugees by Ljubomir Stanisic is the result of a blend signed by the known chef of the TV Show Pesadelo na Cozinha and his famous restaurant in Lisbon 100 Maneiras, it is aged for 2 years in the French oak barrels where wines from the Douro, Scottish whiskey, and Ginja have already staged. It is made from sugarcane from Síria, which migrated along the Mediterranean Sea, and arrived at the south of Spain, where it was distilled, and finally was brought to Portugal, more specifically to Serra da Estrela its final location. This rum is marked by its noble woody taste with sweetness, subtlety, and elegance. The Rum Refugees is a tribute for those who are forced to leave their country, therefore one part of the sales values go to the international organization Jesuit Refugee Service.

 

This rum was awarded in 2019 with the bronze medal in the IWSC, a contest that happens every year in London and awards the best spirit drinks.

 

Since its first edition made in 2018 is already out of stock, it is now the second edition that is on the market. One limited edition with 2450 bottles, The design was made by the artist Mário Belém.
